It took long but finally our paper for LLC (Literary Linguistic Computing) “Pundit: Augmenting Web Contents with Semantics” has been accepted for publication and it’s now in press.
The paper provides an exhaustive and in deep description of Pundit system, a novel web-based semantic annotation system, discussing its data model and architecture. Other then highlighting the several provided annotation capabilities, the paper discusses the vision underlying Pundit development: the possibility to not only better share and reuse the knowledge contained in user created annotations but also to make of annotations a vehicle to create new semantic web data, actually adding links and, ultimately, knowledge to the so called Linked Data Cloud. Leveraging on the standard and highly expressive form in which data has been encoded, a variety of applications can be built to effectively visualise the resulting knowledge in specific domains.
